Glass Art by Trisha McKendry

First I am a proud mother and wife. I work as a licensed therapist. By night and weekends I am a glass artist.
My mother is to thank for that artistic gene that she passed on to me and my dad and rest of the family for always encouraging and supporting me.
All my life I have been artistic. I have always had projects going on. I design jewelry, crochet, paint, scrapbook, any kind of holiday craft, and recently kumihimo braiding to name a few.
Several years ago I started designing jewelry. Designing jewelry lead me to discovering the beauty in lampwork beads. Naturally I thought "Wow! I need to learn how to do this." So I went to the library and borrowed some books on it. I read them from cover to cover several times. I saved up some money and bought my first torch and start up kit. With the knowledge in those first books and from what I read on the internet I taught myself how to make glass beads. From the first wonky bead I made I was hooked.
After trying so many different art forms I know that glass art is my all time favorite and something that I will stick with for many years to come.
The name Sun Daisy Gems was inspired by my two beautiful children. I have always called my son "my son-shine" and my daughters' name means to blossom. Since Daisies are my favorite flower it fit perfectly. So Sun Daisy Gems was created.
